Monuriki Weather and What to Bring
Monuriki weather by season: the wet season from November to April, the drier months from May to October, cyclones, rough-sea days, and what to pack for the day cruise.
Monuriki is warm all year. Fiji has two seasons: a wet season from November to April, with long warm days, short afternoon downpours and more humidity, and a dry season from May to October, a little cooler and with 50 to 75% less rain (Tourism Fiji). The water stays comfortably warm in every month, so the snorkel stops work all year; the drier months give more settled days on the boat. For the day cruise, bring swimwear, a towel, sunscreen and a hat: towels and sunscreen are not included. The cruise, listed as Fiji: Monuriki, Mana Sand Bar & Snorkelling Cruise, is from US$135 a person (checked November 2026).
The calendar above is the Monuriki day cruise, with 686 reviews (checked November 2026).
The short answer
Go in any month, and if you have a choice, May to October is drier. In the wet season, plan for a shower or two and a hot, humid day, and keep the cruise early in your stay so a rough-sea day can be moved. Between April and July, check for a Survivor filming exclusion zone round Monuriki, which in 2026 ran from 15 April to 3 July.
The two seasons
| Season | Months | What to expect |
|---|---|---|
| Wet season (“summer”) | November to April | Long warm days, short afternoon downpours, higher humidity; average 25 to 26°C, with days up to 31°C; January and February are the warmest |
| Dry season (“winter”) | May to October | Shorter, sunnier days and cooler evenings; average 23 to 24°C, most days 19 to 28°C; July and August are the coolest; 50 to 75% less rain |
Seasons and temperatures from Tourism Fiji; the Fiji Meteorological Service also calls November to April the wet season and May to October the cool, dry season.
Tropical cyclones come in the wet season. In its outlook of 27 February 2026, the Fiji Meteorological Service expected one or two tropical cyclones for that wet season; La Niña years are usually wetter than normal from November to April (Fiji Meteorological Service). Weather apps sometimes struggle with tropical forecasts, and Tourism Fiji’s advice is to check a forecast that gives a detailed 3-hour window of the weather each day rather than a week of thunderstorm icons.
Rough-sea days

The cruise crosses open water between the islands, and sea and weather conditions can change the day (Viator, on the same cruise). In severe weather the Maritime Safety Authority of Fiji can stop small boats altogether: its notice MN 13/2026 restricted vessels under 15 metres from 11 June 2026, and MN 14/2026 lifted the restriction on 16 June. If a day like that falls on your booking, the operator decides whether the cruise runs, and the cancellation terms are on the listing you booked.
If you are prone to seasickness, bring your remedy, which is on GetYourGuide’s list of things to bring for this cruise: take it before you board, and look at the horizon on the crossings.
What to bring
- Swimwear, and casual beach clothes over it
- A towel: towels are not included
- Sunscreen and a sun hat: sunscreen is not included, and much of the day is in the sun
- Any personal medication, and a motion sickness remedy if you need one
- A camera, ideally one that can get wet
- Shoes you can climb in, if you want to take the optional hike to the summit of Monuriki
Snorkelling equipment and life jackets are included, and so are lunch, snacks and drinks.

When the weather suits the cruise
A dry-season morning is the easy pick, but a wet-season day usually brings its rain in a short afternoon burst, and the water is as warm as ever. Book a date early in your stay, so there is room to move it if the sea is up.
