Monuriki is 41 km from Port Denarau in a straight line, reached by day boat. The pickups from Denarau and Nadi, the check-in at Booth 6, and the drive from the airport.

Updated November 2026

Monuriki is a small, uninhabited island, and you reach it by boat. The usual way is Cruisin’ Fiji’s day cruise from Port Denarau Marina, on Denarau Island just outside Nadi, which is 41 km from Monuriki in a straight line. Pickups from Denarau Island resorts are free; check-in at Booth 6 on the marina waterfront opens at 8:00 am, and the boat leaves at 9:00 am. The cruise, listed as Fiji: Monuriki, Mana Sand Bar & Snorkelling Cruise, is from US$135 a person (checked November 2026).

The short answer

Stay on Denarau Island if you can, and the pickup is free; from a hotel in Nadi, Wailoaloa or along the coast, the same pickup costs a transport fee, or you can get yourself to Port Denarau Marina for 8:00 am. From Nadi International Airport the marina is a short drive, so the cruise works on your first full day. If you are staying on a Mamanuca island resort, ask the resort: Tourism Fiji’s page on film locations points to boats from the nearby resorts as well.

Where Monuriki is

Map from Nadi International Airport to Monuriki: the airport and Port Denarau on Viti Levu, 12.5 km apart by road, and the 41 km straight line from Port Denarau across the Mamanuca Islands to Monuriki
Nadi International Airport and Port Denarau on Viti Levu, 12.5 km apart by road, and Monuriki in the Mamanuca Islands, 41 km from Port Denarau in a straight line.

Monuriki lies near the western edge of the Mamanuca Islands, the group of small islands off the west coast of Viti Levu, Fiji’s main island. From Port Denarau Marina it is 41 km in a straight line; the day boat does not go straight there, because it stops at Mana Sand Bar and Monu Cove on the way out. On Cruisin’ Fiji’s timetable the boat leaves at 9:00 am, reaches Mana Sand Bar at about 10:00 am, stops 45 minutes to an hour, runs 30 minutes to Monu Cove, stops again, and takes 15 minutes more to Monuriki. The way back, straight to Port Denarau, takes about an hour.

Pickup from your hotel

The cruise includes return transfers from Denarau Island resorts. On Viator’s listing of the same cruise, those pickups start 30 to 60 minutes before the 9:00 am departure, and the exact time is sent when the booking is reconfirmed. From hotels and resorts outside Denarau Island a transport fee applies; neither the GetYourGuide nor the Viator listing gives the amount, so give your hotel when you book and the pickup time and any fee come back with the confirmation.

Checking in at Port Denarau Marina

If you come on your own, go to Cruisin’ Fiji’s Booth 6, on the marina waterfront outside the main passenger terminal building at Port Denarau Marina. Check-in opens at 8:00 am, and the boat leaves at 9:00 am, promptly. Many of the Mamanuca day boats leave from the same marina in the morning, so give yourself time to find the right booth.

Arriving by air

Nadi International Airport is 12.5 km from Port Denarau Marina by road, about 18 minutes without traffic. Viator’s listing of the cruise includes an airport pickup option among its pickup points; ask about it when you book if you are flying in that morning, though a 9:00 am departure leaves little margin after an international arrival. Most people do the cruise on a day when they are already staying near Nadi or on Denarau.
